About This Site
I'm Dan. I have three kids, a mortgage, and a thing for buying cool stuff that probably isn't in the budget.
A couple years ago I bought an inflatable catamaran, a Sea Eagle PaddleSki 437ps, because I wanted to fish the back bays near my house on Long Island without dropping $20,000 on a real boat. I had no trailer, no marina slip, and honestly no clue if an inflatable could handle saltwater fishing.
Turns out it could. I used that thing almost every day the first summer. Launched it from a little kayak ramp down the block, motored out to the flats, and caught fish that the shore guys couldn't reach. It sits on the side of my house year-round, inflated, and holds air the whole time. These aren't pool toys.
When I was shopping for mine, every "review" I found was garbage. Manufacturer pages pretending to be independent. AI-generated lists with specs pulled from Amazon. Nobody actually owned one of these things.
So I made this site. Everything I review here, I bought with my own money. If I haven't personally used something, I'll tell you that upfront.
How This Site Makes Money
Some of the links on this site are affiliate links. If you buy something through one of them, I earn a small commission. It doesn't cost you anything extra. The price is the same whether you click my link or go directly to the manufacturer.
That commission is how I fund buying more gear to write about. With three kids, I have to pick and choose the cool stuff I buy if I want to remain married. The more readers buy through this site, the more gear I can test and review. That's the deal, and I'm not going to pretend it's anything else.
I'll never recommend something just because it pays a commission. If something sucks, I'll tell you. If I haven't used it, I'll say so.
